6 Day Irish Experience

Day 1: Dublin Surrounds - Howth Head & Cliff Walk

 

Main Highlights - Howth Castle, The Rhododendron Gardens, Dublin City Aerial Views, The Summit Pub Tavern, The Irish Sea Panoramic Views, Aideens Grave Dolmen Tomb, Howth Village, Locally caught fresh fish & chips

Our Howth Guided walk will take you to the northern coast of Dublin. Here we will take you on a guided walking tour of Howth Head, a popular peninsula located in Dublin’s northern county. From the village of Howth we will begin a four and a half hour walking tour taking you to some of the most scenic areas in Dublin’s surrounds.


This tour will take you past Howth Castle, Aideens Grave Tomb, The Beautiful Rhododendron Gardens, Across the Bog of Frogs with stunning coastal views. At the half-way point we will stop for a drink and a bite to eat before making our way on towards Howth Harbour. The second half of the walk will take us along Cliff walks with views across the Irish Sea. We will encounter lighthouses, shipwrecks and lots of stories and history along the way. The walk will end in Howth Village where we will enjoy some locally caught fresh fish and chips before making our way back to Dublin City.

Day 2 - Croagh Patrick Guided Climb

 

Highlights: Scenic Midlands Drive, Rathcroghan Celtic Site, Traditional Family Farm, Westport Town, Croagh Patrick Guided Climb

Our second day will see us depart Dublin City for a drive from the East to the West of Ireland. This drive will take us through 6 counties of Ireland, crossing the River Shannon and stopping for lunch on a traditional family farm along the way where we will meet our local expert who will lead the guided tour and guided climb of Croagh Patrick. We will arrive in the bustling town town of Westport, County Mayo where we will make our way to the foot of Croagh Patrick to start our climb. The climb follows the footsteps of ancient pagan pilgrims to the summit with spectacular views across Clew Bay with it’s 364 islands. We will stay in the vibrant Westport Town for the night.

Day 3: The Connemara National Park

 

 

Tour Highlights - The Wild Atlantic Way Drive, Lenane, Spiddal, Kylemore Abbey, The Sky Road into Clifden, Galway City

Our third day will see us depart Westport for a beautiful coastal drive along the Wild Atlantic Way from Mayo into The Connemara National Park. We will stop for a scenic walk through the park that will last approximately 3 and a half hours through forest, across bogland and side by side with rivers before making our way towards the vibrant Galway City where we will spend the night.  The journey will take us past some of the highlights of The Wild Atlantic Way including Kylemore Abbey and The Sky Road to Clifden.

Day 4: Wild Atlantic Way Drive & Burren National Park Walk

 

 

Tour Highlights - The Burren National Park, The Burren Perfumery & Chocolatier,

From Galway we will continue on to the beautiful County Clare and one of our favourite places in Ireland - The Burren National Park. This unique national park is a limestone karst plateau that covers 220 square kilometers. There are some splendid walks within this unusual landscape and some of the locals of the Burren would be delighted to accompany you on this exploration from the stone walls through the local villages. After the walk we will arrive in our hotel close to the Cliffs of Moher.

Day 5: The Cliffs of Moher and Cliff Walk

 

 

Tour Highlights - Pat Sweeney Doolin Cliff Walk, The Cliffs of Moher

Day 5 will see us meet with a local farmer in County Clare - Pat Sweeney for an intimate walking tour of his area of fields and farmland. The walk will take us from the traditional fishing village of Doolin that has a great seafaring history to the majestic Cliffs of Moher. Along the way we will hear the local stories that surround one of Ireland’s biggest tourist attractions. The stunning sights and views will be across Galway bay to the mountains of Connemara with the three Aran Island lying in the mouth of the bay. We will finish the day with our trip home to Dublin City.

Day 6: The Wicklow Mounatins

Tour Highlights: Glendalough, The Valley of The 2 Lakes, The Wicklow Gap, The Wicklow Way 

​

Our last travels will see us explore another Irish national park. This time the mountainous surrounds of The Wicklow Mountains National Park. We will drive up into the mountains stopping at the stunning Lough Tay along the way along with optional stops at Powerscourt House & Gardens before arriving at the tranquil setting of Glenadalough. We will explore the ruins of the monastic city before beginning our trek past the lower and upper lakes and up onto the walk known as The Spinc. Deservedly one of the most popular walks in Wicklow. This is a high level walk along the Spinc ridge overlooking Glendalough, with panoramic views over Glendalough and the surrounding hills, returning past the Glenealo River as it cascades via a series of waterfalls into the Upper Lough. There is a well marked path for the entire walk and, apart from the fairly strenuous climb up to the Spinc ridge at the start, the walk is reasonably level and easy going. We will return to Dublin City late in the evening.
